Spartans start MIL D-II title defense with sweep of Trojans

Isabel Bennett had 20 kills to lead the Seabury Hall girls volleyball team to a season-opening sweep of St. Anthony on Tuesday night at Erdman Athletic Center in Olinda.
Bennett also had five digs for the defending Maui Interscholastic League Division II champion Spartans, who won 25-21, 25-5, 25-9. Madee Dougherty had 31 assists and five digs, and Sevilla Leuteneker added seven digs and three kills for Seabury (1-0).
The Trojans fell to 0-2.
Baldwin 3, Maui High 2
At Wailuku, Sela Panuve totaled 15 kills as the Bears battled to a 22-25, 27-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-10 victory.
Tia Caulford had 38 digs and Daesha Soares had 16 assists for Baldwin (1-1).
The Sabers fell to 0-2.
