Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki was hit on his left elbow by a pitch during the ninth inning of Atlanta’s 6-1 victory over the Pirates on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
The 2001 Baldwin High School graduate, who is in his 12th major league season, underwent X-rays after the game and will have a CT scan early today, the Braves said.
“Results of both exams will be announced when they are complete,” the team said on Twitter.
Leading off the top of the ninth inning, Suzuki was hit on a 2-1 pitch from Pirates reliever Clay Holmes. He was tended to by trainer George Poulis and taken out of the game, replaced by Tyler Flowers.
It is the ninth time this season Suzuki has been hit by a pitch.
Suzuki went 2-for-3 in the game, with an RBI double and two runs scored.
