Team Bradley wins 11th Na Wahine O Ke Kai crown

Maui’s Team Bradley held off Outrigger Canoe Club to earn its 11th victory in the Na Wahine O Ke Kai on Sunday.

Team Bradley completed the 41-mile race from Hale O Lono Harbor on Molokai to the beach in front of Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki in 5 hours, 48 minutes, 28 seconds, just over a minute ahead of Outrigger. The Maui Jim crew placed third in 5:57:35.

It was the third straight win for Team Bradley, which also won six straight from 2005 to 2010, as well as in 2012 and 2013.

The race, celebrating its 40th anniversary, included 64 crews from around the state, as well as California, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan.

Other Maui crews to complete the race were Hawaiian Canoe Club Blue (6:20:28), Hawaiian Canoe Club Juniors (6:26:46), Hawaiian Canoe Club White (6:29:41), Lae’ula O Kai Red (6:42:10), Lae’ula O Kai Green (6:58:43) and Maui Five-O (7:06:09).

Hawaiian Canoe Club Juniors won the juniors division. Other division winners were Team Aotearoa (junior masters 40), Outrigger Canoe Club Leilani (koa), Kailua Canoe Club (senior masters 50) and Haleiwa Outrigger (golden masters 55).
