The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team gave up all of a 13-point lead but eventually pulled away to beat Idaho 69-61, earning its second win of the season on Wednesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Makenna Woodfolk had 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Rainbow Wahine (2-7), who went on a 16-0 run in the first quarter to take a 21-10 lead.

A layup by Jadynn Alexander put UH up 25-12 early in the second quarter, and the ‘Bows were able to hold on to a 35-27 lead at the half.

The Vandals responded by outscoring Hawaii 20-11 in the third quarter to take back the lead, but the Rainbow Wahine returned the favor in the fourth. UH scored the first eight points of the final frame, capped by a 3-pointer by Tia Kanoa, to go up 54-47, and Idaho never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

Kanoa finished with 12 points for UH, which limited itself to 10 turnovers.

Taylor Pierce had 20 points and seven rebounds, and Mikayla Ferenz added 18 points and six rebounds for the Vandals (3-4).

The Rainbow Wahine next host Hawaii Pacific on Sunday before heading to Las Vegas for the Duel in the Desert, Dec. 19-21, where they will face UNLV and Florida or Utah.
