Rainbow Wahine fall to 49ers on road, 56-40

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team had its three-game road winning streak snapped Saturday by Long Beach State, 56-40 in Long Beach, Calif.

Myrrah Joseph led the Rainbow Wahine (9-13, 5-4 Big West Conference) with 15 points and nine rebounds. UH shot just 25.5 percent (13-of-51) for the game.

Naomi Hunt hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the 49ers (7-15, 4-5). Shanaijah Davison added 18 points and Justina King had 11 for Long Beach State, which shot 45.5 percent (20-of-44), including 52.6 percent (10-of-19) on 3-pointers.

The Rainbow Wahine start a three-game homestand on Wednesday against UC Santa Barbara.
