June 10-13–Westside Hoops and Project Thrive’s Another Level Basketball Camp will be held June 10-13 at Lahaina Civic Center and Lahainaluna High School gym. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 2-5 (at Lahaina Civic Center) and 6 and up (Lahainaluna). Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The cost is $99. Saturday–The inaugural Run of Love 5K is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Keopuolani Park. The Valentine’s Day-themed race has both individual ($25 registration) and couples relay ($40) sign-ups. The race benefits Kihei Charter athletics. To register, visit bit.ly/2M5ZRbZ.
March 9–The second annual Trucker Dukes Memorial 5K will be held on March 9 at Old Maui High School starting at 8 a.m. The registration fee is $35. There are 5K, 1-mile walk and keiki run/walk ($10) races, as well as a virtual run option. The event is held in honor of the inspirational Dukes, who received an outpouring of support from people on Maui and around the world during his battle with neuroblastoma. Dukes died at the age of 3 on March 3, 2017. The race benefits UVSC, which helps raise funds for those fighting cancer. To register or for more information, visit uvsc.org.
Tuesday–The USTA Play to Learn youth tennis program’s six-week first spring session continues this week, with classes held each Tuesday and Thursday at the Kahului Community Center courts, each Wednesday at the Eddie Tam courts in Makawao and each Friday at the Lahaina Civic Center courts (adult sessions available).
