UH sweeps past Saint Francis

The second-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team rolled to a seventh straight sweep on Friday, beating Saint Francis University 25-15, 25-20, 25-12 in a tournament in Charlotte, N.C.

Mauian Colton Cowell, a King Kekaulike High School graduate, had seven kills in eight swings to finish with an .875 hitting percentage to go along with two assists and one block. Rado Parapunov led UH (7-0) with 11 kills while hitting .714. Patrick Gasman chipped in eight blocks.

Hawaii, which has not lost a set this season, outhit Saint Francis (5-4) .585 to .200 for the match. Michael Fisher had 13 kills for SFU.

The Rainbow Warriors finish their trip to North Carolina with a rematch against Queen’s University today — UH swept Queen’s on Thursday. UH returns home to face Lincoln Memorial for a pair of matches next week. Big West Conference play begins on March 1.
