Rainbow Warriors sweep past Princeton, to face BYU today

The second-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team recorded its 19th straight sweep to open the season with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 win over Princeton on Friday in the BYU Invitational in Provo, Utah.

Stijn van Tilburg recorded 11 kills and King Kekaulike High School graduate Colton Cowell added 10 for UH, which will play No. 8 BYU today in the final match of the tournament.

Cowell hit .368, had an assist, two service aces and a block.

Hawaii out-hit Princeton (10-11) .382 to .237 for the match.

UH is slated to play a non-conference match at Concordia-Irvine on Tuesday before returning to Big West Conference play Friday and Saturday at UC San Diego.
