Kamehameha Maui sweeps Lahainaluna, finishes 12-0

The Kamehameha Schools Maui boys volleyball team finished an undefeated run through the Maui Interscholastic League regular season with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 win over Lahainaluna on Tuesday night at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym.

Sheldon Dudoit-Caban had eight kills, 10 digs, and two blocks, Ethan James added 11 kills, Hao Awai had 11 digs, and Maikalani Wong chipped in two blocks for the Warriors (12-0).

Lahainaluna (7-5) is the No. 2 seed for the MIL tournament next week at Baldwin’s Jon Garcia Gym.

In the only other match on the final night of the regular season, Maui High outlasted Baldwin 25-14, 26-24, 17-25, 22-25, 15-4. The Sabers (4-8) and Bears (2-10) will meet in the play-in match of the MIL tournament on Friday for the right to meet No. 1 Kamehameha Maui in Monday’s semifinals.

Kanoho Haupu had 11 kills, nine digs, and aces for the Bears, while Kui Ross added six kills and three blocks, and Jesther Tugas dished out 20 assist and had six digs.

Maui High did not keep statistics.
