Na Pueo boys earn final spot in MIL team championships

The Maui Preparatory Academy boys tennis team earned a spot in the Maui Interscholastic League team championships with a 3-1 win over Molokai on Saturday.

Na Pueo improved to 5-3 in MIL West Division play, finishing tied with Maui High. Maui Prep earns the second and final spot for this week’s team playoffs via tiebreaker — Na Pueo lost four total matches to the Sabers this season, while Maui High lost six head-to-head with Maui Prep.

On Saturday, Na Pueo got singles wins by Noah Schwartzlow, Alejandro Prieto and Nolan Brown.

The Farmers fell to 2-6.

In the girls match, Maui Prep defeated Molokai 3-2.

Na Pueo and the Farmers finish the season at 3-5.

The Maui Prep boys will take on East top seed Kihei Charter in the league championship semifinals on Thursday at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch. Other matchups are: Lahainaluna boys vs. Seabury Hall, Maui High girls vs. Kamehameha Maui, and Seabury Hall girls vs. Lahainaluna.
