Trojans into MIL D-II semifinals with victory over Hana

WAILUKU — The St. Anthony High School baseball team scored 10 runs in the final two innings to eliminate Hana 15-5 in five innings in the opening game of the Maui Interscholastic League Division II tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Maehara Stadium.

The Trojans (4-5) rode a complete-game seven-hitter by Matthew Sylva on the mound to advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Molokai today. Sylva walked three and struck out one.

Evan Essner, Ges Ornellas and Robert Gebkin all had two hits for the Trojans.

The Dragons end the season at 0-9.

Today’s other semifinal pits Seabury Hall against Lanai; the Spartans can clinch a state tournament spot if they and the Farmers win.
