Connor leads Spartans’ sweep of Dragons

MIL VOLLEYBALL

Ella Connor had 10 kills, and the Seabury Hall girls volleyball team swept past Hana on Friday night at the Dragons’ gym in Hana.

Connor also had six digs and four aces in the 25-9, 25-18, 25-21 victory that pitted the two-time defending Maui Interscholastic League Division II champion Spartans (2-0) against the team that finished runner-up to them each time.

Skylar Conley and Anu Akeo both added five kills and two blocks, Sevilla Leuteneker had four kills and 13 digs, and Ki’i Rilveria had two aces and six digs for Seabury.

The Dragons (1-1) got a team-high seven kills from Pumehana Helekahi, who also had an ace and an assist. Pristine Perry dished out 15 assists to go along with three aces and a kill, Tyra-Li Perry added four kills, two assists and two aces, and Atasha Paman-Manrique had two blocks, two aces and a kill.

MOLOKAI 3, LANAI 0

At Lanai City, Lia Chae Meyer had 10 kills and four aces to lead the Farmers to a 25-12, 25-13, 25-22 victory over the Pine Lasses in both teams’ first MIL match of the season.

Sadie Aiana, Saije Aiana and Haliaka Lima English each added five kills for the Farmers. Saije Aiana also had three blocks, and Jordyn McCutcheon had 23 assists and three aces.
