Bio leads Maui High boys to top spot at MIL shoot No. 3

Justin Bio shot the best individual score of the day, a 260, to lead the Maui High School boys air riflery team to a victory at Maui Interscholastic League shoot No. 3 on Saturday at Baldwin’s range in Wailuku.

Bio had a 94 for the meet’s highest kneeling score to go along with a 93 prone and 73 kneeling. He finished with five bulls-eyes.

Baldwin’s Daniel Garcia placed second with a 257, while the Sabers’ Jordan Shim (254) was third.

Maui High had a total of 1,005 to edge the Bears by three points for first place in the boys team race.

The Sabers’ Kamila Hera was the top girls finisher with her total of 253, which was two points better than runner-up Kuualoha Bailey of Kamehameha Maui. The Warriors’ Nalikoleilani Cabanilla was another point back in third.

The team race was flipped, with Bailey, Cabanilla and the Warriors edging Hera and the Sabers for the top spot, 991-990.

The next MIL meet is a postal meet, with teams competing at their schools throughout the week.
