Warriors bounce back with sweep of Bears

Hoala Alapai posted 12 kills and two aces to lead the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls volleyball team to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Baldwin on Thursday night at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym in Pukalani.

Jhene Saribay had 10 kills and Logan Spencer added seven as the Warriors (7-1) won two days after suffering their first loss of the Maui Interscholastic League season, a five-setter against King Kekaulike.

Kayla Yamashita had 18 assists, Taylor Morita had 12 assists, seven digs and two aces, Melana Hoopii contributed 12 digs and Destiny Labuanan had eight digs and two aces for Kamehameha.

The Bears fell to 4-5.

King Kekaulike 3, Lahainaluna 1

At Lahaina, first-place Na Alii overcame a first-set loss to defeat the Lunas 22-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-20.

Annika Stammberger led King Kekaulike’s balanced attack, finishing with 12 kills, eight digs and a block. Montana DiSegna had 11 kills, nine digs and an aces, and Temahh Shaw had 10 kills, three digs and a block. Nanna Inoue posted 31 digs and five aces, and Lauren Albrecht had 36 assists, eight digs, two aces and a block for Na Alii (8-0).

The Lunas dropped to 2-7.
