Warriors topple Bears to remain undefeated

The Kamehameha Schools Maui girls bowling team defeated Baldwin 3-0 in a matchup of perfect teams Saturday at Maui Bowling Center in Wailuku.

The defending Maui Interscholastic League champion Warriors (9-0) got high games of 179 and 180 from Nadia Apo-Takayama. Tahan Valdez bowled a 150 and Siena Poepoe a 136.

The Bears (6-3) were led by Jailee Fujita (137), Kalena Torres-Estores (125) and Janelle Dee (125).

In the boys match, Baldwin defeated Kamehameha 3-0. Kainalu Torres-Estores (162-177), C.J. Keanini-Higa (156-203) and Kanai Quinsaat (181) led the Bears (6-3) while Bryson Reformina (157) and Kahiau Carino (162) led the Warriors (5-4).

Also Saturday, the Maui High boys downed Kihei Charter 3-0, and the Saber girls defeated the Tiger Sharks 2-1.

Zachary Domingo had games of 166 and 153, Cy Fernandez bowled a 156 and 146, and Jeremy Peros added a 146 for the Maui High boys (5-4). Kihei Charter (0-12) got a 148 from Elias Lee.

In the girls match, Kalena Hiranaga (142) and Anna Barcoma-Suyat (139) led the way for the Sabers (5-4). Nehemiah Kuhaulua had a 151 and 137, and Maile Coulter had a 140 for the Tiger Sharks (4-8).
