Kamehameha girls win fourth straight MIL team title

The Kamehameha Schools Maui girls bowling team captured its fourth straight Maui Interscholastic League championship on Saturday after earning a 2-1 win over second-place Baldwin at Maui Bowling Center in Wailuku.

Nadia Apo-Takayama bowled a 177 and 136, and Tahan Valdez had a 130 to lead the Warriors, who improved to 19-2 on the season.

The Bears (13-8) were led by Jailee Fujita (133), Kalena Torres-Estores (124) and Kamalani Adolpho (122).

In the boys match, Kamehameha took over first place in the standings with a 3-0 win over Baldwin.

Anson Cabello had a 185 and 161, and Jasyah Macugay and Bryson Reformina also bowled games of 161 for the Warriors (15-6).

Jarin Tateishi posted a 143, Dallen Silva a 139 and Kainalu Torres-Estores a 135 to lead the Bears (14-7).

Also on Saturday, the Maui High boys and girls teams picked up wins over Kihei Charter.

Anna Barcoma-Suyat bowled at 153 and 130, and Tiana Juan had a 152 and 131 to lead the Sabers (13-8) to a 2-1 victory.

The Tiger Sharks (9-15) got high games from Maile Coulter (135) and Nehemiah Kuhaulua (136, 136).

Cy Fernandez had a 159 and 192, and Zachary Domingo posted a 148 as the Maui High boys upped their record to 12-9 with a 3-0 victory over the Tiger Sharks (0-24).
