Nguyen wins by unanimous decision in Bare Knuckle debut

Dat Nguyen, a 2001 Baldwin High School graduate, beat Travis Thompson by unanimous decision on Saturday night in their 135-pound bout on the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships 8 card in Tampa, Fla.

The bout was Nguyen’s BKFC debut and ran his professional boxing record to 21-3. It was the 37-year-old’s first fight since February 2017 and just his sixth since 2009.

Nguyen swept the judges’ cards in the five-round bout by scores of 50-45, 50-45 and 49-46.

Thompson is primarily a mixed martial arts fighter, and his record fell to 7-13-2.
