Lahainaluna boys open season with win

The Lahainaluna High School boys basketball team rolled past King Kekaulike 58-29 in the Maui Interscholastic League opener for both teams on Tuesday night at the Lahainaluna gym.

The Lunas got 23 points from Malino Jacinto to cruise to the victory, their 53rd in a row in MIL play, dating back to the 2015-16 season. It was the first win for the new basketball coaching staff, led by head coach Nick Webb.

The Lunas led 21-7 after one period and 39-18 at halftime.

King Kekaulike (0-1) was led by Carson Yoshida’s 11 points, nine of which came in the first half.
