Stansberry leads UH to 58-41 victory over HPU
HONOLULU (AP) — Eddie Stansberry hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, and the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team beat Division II Hawaii Pacific 58-41 on Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
HPU jumped to a 9-4 lead as the Rainbow Warriors (6-2) missed 11 of their first 13 field-goal attempts, but they scored 23 of the next 29 points to open a 12-point lead early in the second half.
Daniel Melifonwu and Jacob Foy scored seven points apiece for the Sharks (2-2).
UH, which shot just 39.3 percent (11 of 28) from the field in the first half, made 14 of 27 (52 percent) after the break.
Hawaii next plays at No. 11 Oregon on Saturday.
