Rainbow Warriors sweep away Crimson

Colton Cowell had a match-high 13 kills before leaving with a leg injury as the top-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team defeated Harvard 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Cowell, a graduate of King Kekaulike High School, exited in the third set of the Raising Cane’s Rainbow Warrior Classic match and had ice applied to the back of his left leg.

After the match, coach Charlie Wade said on the Spectrum Sports telecast that he was “hoping it’s a cramp.” Cowell, who was shown walking around after the win, said he hoped to play today in the tournament finale against Grand Canyon.

Cowell finished with six digs, two blocks, an ace and an assist. Rado Parapunov added 12 kills and nine digs for UH (4-0), which hit .329 for the match.

Campbell Schoenfeld led Harvard (1-1) with 11 kills.
