The University of Hawaii football team’s spring practices and spring game have been canceled due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, head coach Todd Graham said Thursday.

In announcing the cancellation in a video message posted to social media, Graham said “we know right now the priority is the safety, health and well-being of everyone.”

“We will be ready this fall and this too shall end and we shall prevail victorious as we always do,” he said. “We encourage you to be safe and healthy and take care of each other.”

The Rainbow Warriors’ spring game had been scheduled for April 25 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex on the UH Manoa campus.

Graham is entering his first season as UH head coach, taking over for the departed Nick Rolovich. The Rainbow Warriors are set to start the season Aug. 29 at Arizona before playing their home opener against UCLA on Sept. 5 at Aloha Stadium.
