UH women win, men lose last regular season games

The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team finished its regular season with a 75-58 win over Cal Poly on senior night Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center on Oahu.

The Wahine will go to the Big West Conference tournament with a 15-14 overall record, 9-7 in conference. UH will be the No. 4 seed and play in a quarterfinal to open the BWC Tournament on Wednesday in Long Beach, Calif., at 5:30 p.m. HST.

Against Cal Poly, the Wahine were led by Julissa Tago, who had 19 points and nine rebounds. Nae Nae Calhoun added 13 points for the Wahine.

Sierra Campisano led Cal Poly (9-18, 6-10) with 17 points.

The Hawaii men lost their regular-season finale 86-82 at Cal State Northridge on Saturday night despite Eddie Stansberry scoring 31 points. Samuta Avea added 20 points for UH (17-13, 8-8 Big West). 

CSUN (15-17, 10-6) got 34 points from Lamine Diane and 24 from Terrell Gomez.

Hawaii will be the fourth seed for the BWC Tournament and will face UC Davis in a quarterfinal on Thursday in Anaheim, Calif., at 5:30 p.m. HST.
