No. 1 Rainbow Warriors dominate No. 12 Tritons, improve to 9-0

The Maui News

Rado Parapunov had 12 kills to lead a blistering attack, and the top-ranked University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team swept past No. 12 UC San Diego 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 on Saturday night at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Parapunov hit .526 as part of the Rainbow Warriors’ .448 team hitting percentage for the match as UH completed a four-match season sweep of the Tritons — Hawaii swept two matches on the Mainland last month and also won a four-set match Friday in Honolulu.

King Kekaulike High School graduate Colton Cowell added 11 kills, two digs, two assists and a block for UH, which was able to pull away early in each set on its way to improving to 9-0 overall, 4-0 in Big West Conference play.

Kyle McCauley led the Tritons (1-7, 1-3) with 11 kills.

The Rainbow Warriors continue their homestand by hosting No. 7 Long Beach State this Friday and Saturday.
