The Central East Maui Little League All-Stars dominated the competition on their way to claiming the Hawaii State Little League Juniors (13-14) state championship over the weekend on Oahu.

The Maui champions started the tournament, held at Aiea District Park, with its closest victory of the event, beating Kaneohe 4-2 on Friday. Kaleb Mathias crushed a two-run homer and Logan Kuloloia earned the win on the mound for Central.

CEM then routed Aiea 19-0 on Saturday before again blowing out Aiea in Sunday’s championship game, 17-3. Kamole Gilliland pitched in Saturday’s game, while Bransyn Hong threw in Sunday’s game.

The Central East Maui team featured nine players who were part of the 2019 CEM team that advanced to the Majors (10-12) Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., where they made it to the final four.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are no regional or World Series tournaments for the Juniors division this year. The only Little League division that will go past the state level is the Majors division.
