Honolulu finishes third at Little League World Series
Honolulu’s Kekoa Payanal is greeted by his teammates at home plate after hitting a two-run home run in the first inning of their 5-0 victory over Sioux Falls, S.D., in the third-place game of the Little League World Series on Sunday in South Williamsport, Pa. Honolulu finished 4-1 in the tournament, with its only loss coming in Saturday’s semifinal against Taylor North of Michigan. The Hawaii champions had beat Michigan 2-0 on Wednesday during the mostly double-elimination tournament, but in the rematch Saturday — which was a winner-take-all bracket final — Honolulu fell short 2-1. Michigan went on to beat Ohio 5-2 in the championship game.
