Maui youth polo players compete at nationals

Three Maui Polo Club all-star players competed in a United States Polo Association National Youth Tournament in Chicago over the weekend.

Daniel Miranda played for the Wild Card team in the Open Championship — his team finished second, falling to Eastern Region 8-6 in the final Sunday.

Maya Miller played for the Girls Blue team and Sunny Diller competed for the Girls Yellow team. The Blue team placed third and Yellow team fourth in the girls division after both lost their semifinal matches on Friday.

The tournament featured eighth teams in total, made up of the 32 youth polo players from across the nation who were invited to play in the event.

Hudgins of Kahului aces No. 3 at The Dunes

Robert Hudgins of Kahului made a hole-in-one on Sept. 6 at The Dunes at Maui Lani.

Hudgins used a 9-iron to ace the No. 3 hole from 110 yards. Scott Obley witnessed the shot.


Parker of Kihei has hole-in-one at Maui Nui

Debra Parker of Kihei recorded a hole-in-one at Maui Nui Golf Club on Sept. 8.

Parker aced the 12th hole from 178 yards using a driver. Ken Acheson witnessed the shot.


New Jersey’s Kaczmarek has ace at Maui Nui

Emily Kaczmarek of Hobeken, N.J., made a hole-in-one on Monday at Maui Nui Golf Club.

Using a 6-iron, Kaczmarek aced the 14th hole from 145 yards. The witness was Andy Kaczmarek.
