Dragons sweep Pine Lasses

Pumehana Helekahi had 14 kills to lead the Hana High School girls volleyball team to a 25-11, 25-18, 25-20 win over Lanai on Saturday in Lanai City.

Tyra Perry added nine kills and nine aces for the Dragons, who completed a two-match sweep of the Pine Lasses on opening weekend of Maui Interscholastic League Division II play. Pristine Perry had 21 assists and four aces, and Briseis Keaulana had five aces.

Statistics for Lanai were not reported.

• SEABURY HALL 3, MOLOKAI 1: At Hoolehua, Kekua Richards had 13 kills and three blocks, and Malia Bennett had 12 kills as the Spartans (2-0) beat the Farmers (0-2) 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-18.

Caelyn Hasegawa dished out 29 assists to go with eight kills for Seabury Hall.

Lia-Chae Meyer led Molokai with 16 kills, while Sadie Aiana added 12. Daisci Burrows had 37 assists and Jordyn McCutcheon finished with seven kills and four aces.
