Junior tennis classes return to Kahului

Registration is open now for USTA Play and Learn junior classes, set to be held at Kahului Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning the week of Nov. 9 for five weeks.

Classes for advanced beginners and intermediate players ages 10 to 13 will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m.; for beginners and advanced beginners ages 9-11 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.; and for beginning students ages 6-8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The same schedule repeats for Tuesday and Thursday and students are encouraged to participate in both classes.

Tennis balls are provided and the coach will have racquets available if needed.

Stevens of Wailuku has hole-in-one at Waiehu

Marc Stevens of Wailuku made a hole-in-one on Thursday at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course.

Stevens used a 9-iron to ace the 16th hole from 135 yards. Witnesses were Lee Sakugawa, Jon Yokouchi and Daniel Chapman.
