Funeral services for Mafatini Saturday

Funeral services for Mafatini Taimane-Latiti Mafatini III, a 2021 Baldwin High School graduate, will be held Saturday at The Church of Latter-day Saints, Kahului Stake Center, at 125 West Kamehameha Avenue in Kahului.

Mafatini was the only fatality in a single-car crash in Utah on Oct. 3. He was 18.

Mafatini was a standout football player for the Bears and was in his freshman year as a scholarship player at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, at the time of his death.

Viewing will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a service to follow from 8 to 9 p.m. Face masks and social distancing is required.


CEMLL registration set for November

The deadline to register for Central East Maui Little League baseball is Tuesday, Nov, 30.

Registration will open on Nov. 1 for Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors and Intermediate 50/70.

Due to a limited number of volunteers, there will be no exceptions made for late registration. All paperwork must be done correctly and submitted by Nov 30. Documents should be scanned on separate files.

Sabers beat Na Alii for first MIL win

The Maui High School girls volleyball team won its first match of the season on Thursday night at the Shine Matsui Athletic Center, 27-25, 25-23, 25-27, 17-25, 15-9 over King Kekaulike.

The Sabers improved to 1-3 in Maui Interscholastic League Division I play, while King Kekaulike fell to 0-4.

In the only other match Thursday, Lahainaluna (3-1) beat Kamehameha Maui (2-2) 14-25, 17-25, 27-25, 25-19, 15-6.
