Dragons rally past Spartans in five sets, grab No. 2 seed

The Hana High School girls volleyball team dealt Seabury Hall its first loss of the season Saturday morning at Erdman Athletic Center, coming from two sets down and clinching the No. 2 seed in the Maui Interscholastic League Division II tournament in the process.

The Dragons finished the MIL regular season 8-2 after a 19-25, 13-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-12 victory.

Seabury Hall (9-1) clinched the regular-season title, No. 1 seed for this week’s MIL tournament and a state tournament berth with a four-set win over Hana on Friday night.

On Saturday, Pumehana Helekahi had 23 kills, 11 digs, three aces, four blocks and three assists for the Dragons. Tyra-Li Perry had 19 kills, four aces, an assist, a block and six digs, while Pristine Perry had 37 assists and nine digs. Briseis Keaulana had four digs, an assist and an ace, and Naarah Hoopai-Feliciano added five digs.

The Spartans did not report statistics for the match.
