Rainbow Warriors lose third in a row, 73-66 vs. Beach

Aboubacar Traore had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Colin Slater added 16 points and Long Beach State used a late 7-0 surge to defeat the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team 73-66 in Honolulu on Thursday night for its 10th straight victory.
Up one with under 3 minutes to go, Long Beach scored seven points in two minutes, five by Drew Cobb, his only points of the game.
The Beach (14-9, 9-1 Big West Conference) made eight of 10 from the foul line in the final 44 seconds to secure the win.
Noel Coleman scored 22 points for Hawaii (11-8, 6-3), which lost its third straight. Jerome Desrosiers added 16 points.
The Rainbow Warriors next host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
Earlier Thursday, the UH women’s team used a fourth-quarter surge to top Fullerton 55-46 in Fullerton, Calif.
Neither team shot well in the first half, with the Rainbow Wahine going just 6 of 34 from the field. However, they trailed by just one point at halftime, 24-23. The game was tied at 35 heading into the fourth quarter, when the ‘Bows used an 8-0 run to take control.
Amy Atwell had 18 points and four blocks, Olivia Davies added 17 points and five assists, and Kallin Spiller grabbed 12 rebounds to lead UH (11-8, 7-2).
Lily Wahinekapu and Carolyn Gill each scored 12 points to lead the Titans (8-13, 3-8).
The Rainbow Wahine next play at Long Beach State on Saturday.
