Lanakila Volleyball Academy players Hailey Killett (bottom row, from left), Pumehana Helekahi, Kaloline Pasikala and Daesha Soares pose for a photo with the club’s coaches and board of directors during their end-of-year gathering/scholarship signing day June 4 at the club’s gym in Kahului. All five of the club’s seniors this year — who graduated with an average GPA of 3.92 — are college bound, with three earning athletic scholarships: Lahainaluna graduates Killett and Pasikala are headed to Westminster (Utah) College and Independence (Kan.) Community College, respectively, while Hana’s Helekahi is going to the New Mexico Military Institute. Soares, a graduate of Baldwin, has received an academic scholarship and is attending Pacific Lutheran (Wash.) University, as did King Kekaulike grad Jayla Fernandez (not pictured), who is attending California Lutheran University.
