Bears open MIL title defense with sweep of Na Alii

Ariana Naipo recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, and the Baldwin High School girls volleyball team opened Maui Interscholastic League play with a 25-10, 25-22, 25-15 victory over King Kekaulike on Thursday night in Pukalani.
Amanda Naipo added seven kills and six digs, and Keirah Kusunoki also had seven kills to go with two digs and a block for the Bears, the defending Maui Interscholastic League Division I champions.
Lilinoe Paschoal dished out 32 assists and had three kills and a block, and Natronai Anana had 20 digs and four aces for Baldwin.
Statistics for Na Alii were not reported.
In Thursday night’s other MIL D-I match, Maui High opened its season with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 victory over Lahainaluna at Shine Matsui Athletic Center.
