Baldwin clinches state berth

Maui High takes over second place

The Baldwin High School girls volleyball team clinched a state berth with a sweep of King Kekaulike on Thursday at Na Alii gym.

The Bears improved to 9-0 on the season with their 25-18, 25-20, 33-31 victory. Na Alii fell to 1-7.

With the result, Baldwin clinched the regular-season title and state berth that goes with it — the Bears also know now that will be the No. 1 seed for the MIL Division I tournament.

Ariana Naipo led Baldwin with 14 kills 10 digs, and one solo block. Amanda Naipo had eight kills, five aces, seven digs and a solo block. Natronai Anana had 10 digs, three aces and an assist. Lilinoe Paschoal dished out 29 assists, had nine digs and a block for the Bears.

King Kekaulike did not report statistics.

Maui High (7-3) took over second place with a 25-19, 25-12, 21-25, 25-15 win over Lahainaluna (0-8). No individual stats were reported from the match.
