KAHULUI – In the midst of over 100-degree heat in Charlottesville, Virginia, Dr. Mary Trotto of Kihei recently completed 10 events over two days at the Masters Decathlon June 22 and 23.
Dr. Mary W75 ran the 100m in 22.48; Long Jump 1.94m; Shot 7.03m; High Jump .92m and 400m 2:20 for the first day. On the second day, the heat index even higher than the first day, Dr Mary ran the 80m hurdles in 34:46; threw the Discus 14.50; Pole Vault 1.03m; Javelin 13.51m and at noon with the temperatures rising she ran the 1500m in 11 min flat. Dr Mary earned a total of 2650 points. She was disappointed with her performances since she was counting o a strong showing in the throws to bring her close to the American Record. My throws were flat, especially on day 2. She completed all 10 events and won the W75 National Champion Title.
