Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s signature fundraising gala will beckon from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 in the Yokouchi Pavilion and adjoining A&B Amphitheater in Kahului.

The evening begins with a fresh flower lei greeting and Hawaiian music serenade. Then mix and mingle as you sample delectable pupu created by more than 20 chefs from stellar Maui restaurants and fine vintages from top boutique wineries.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating The Plantation Days” and there will be a sea of ladies wearing colorful muumuu and men dazzling with aloha shirts. The silent and live auction items at Maui Calls are some of the best offerings you can find at any benefit event in the islands. There are hotel and spa getaways; one-of-a-kind adventures made possible by our distinctive roster of donors; and guitars autographed by stars who have performed on the MACC stages.

“It’s an evening not to be missed,” says Alan Jahns of Paradise Beverages, who puts together the winemakers each year. “All of the attendees must be 21.”

Funds raised benefit the MACC’s many education and cultural programs. For more details, call 242-7469 or visit the website at www.mauiarts.org.
