UPDATE: Seven displaced by Maui Meadows fire at two-story home

Seven Maui Meadows residents have been displaced after a late-morning fire that engulfed the top level of a two-story home in South Maui.

No injuries were reported. The cause of fire is being investigated, and damage estimates are not yet available, the Maui Fire Department said Wednesday afternoon.

MFD received at 10:51 a.m. reports of a Kehala Drive residence structure fire. On the scene, crews found a two-story home “heavily involved with fire on the second story,” according to the department. Crews from Wailea, Kihei and Kahului responded, and the blaze was deemed under control at 11:55 a.m.

Officials confirmed that all occupants evacuated safely prior to fire personnel arrival.

“It is believed that seven people have been displaced as a result of this fire, and they are being assisted by the Red Cross,” said Rylan Yatsushiro, Fire Services chief.
