Central East Maui finishes 6-0 win over New Jersey, Virginia team next on Wednesday

The Central East Maui Little League All-Stars moved within three wins of the world championship as Isaac Imamura finished on the mound in a 6-0 win over Elizabeth, N.J., Monday morning in a game that was suspended by lightning on Sunday.

CEM advanced to a Wednesday game against South Riding, Va. That game is set for 1:30 p.m. HST and will be shown on ESPN.

If Maui wins on Wednesday, it will play for the U.S. championship on Saturday at 9: 30 a.m. HST on ABC.

A win Saturday would send Maui to the world championship game on Sunday at 9 a.m. on ABC.

Imamura pitched the final 1 2/3 innings on Monday in the win over New Jersey. He was on the mound when the game was suspended. Imamura (2 2/3 innings) and Logan Kuloloia (3 1/3 innings) combined on a four-hit shutout with seven total strikeouts and three walks.

Nicholas Nashiwa had a three-run double to push Maui’s lead to 6-0 against New Jersey and Jaren Pascual smacked a solo home run to make it 1-0 in the first inning.
