UH tops Sacramento State in first sweep of season

Amber Igiede and Skyler Williams each had a team-leading nine kills as the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team earned its first sweep of the season Friday night, defeating Sacramento State in a Heineken Rainbow Wahine Invitational match at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Hanna Hellvig had eight kills and 10 digs, and Jolie Rasmussen also posted eight kills as the 20th-ranked Rainbow Wahine won 25-19, 25-17, 25-18.

UH (5-0) outhit the Hornets (2-3) .345 to .172 and outblocked them 7-1.

Macey Hayden led Sac State with 12 kills.

Hawaii closes the tournament against Denver on Sunday.
