Rainbow Wahine improve to 8-0 with 4-set win over Utah Valley

Hanna Hellvig had 17 kills, 17 digs and five blocks to lead the No. 18 University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team to a four-set victory over Utah Valley in an Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge match Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

With outside hitter Jolie Rasmussen out with an ankle injury suffered the night before against West Virginia, the Rainbow Wahine were able to handle the Wolverines 25-20, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15 and improve to 8-0.

Brooke Van Sickle added 11 kills and three aces, and Amber Igiede had nine kills and six block for UH, which outhit Utah Valley .227 to .153.

Kazna Tarawhiti led the Wolverines (2-7) with 21 kills.

Hawaii closes the tournament today against UCLA.
