Lauren Rewers and Myrrah Joseph each scored 13 points, and the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 62-50 victory over UT San Antonio in a Bank of Hawaii Classic game Friday afternoon at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Wahine (3-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 12-2 after the first quarter and 27-21 at halftime. The Roadrunners (3-2) closed within 27-25 with 7 minutes, 45 seconds to go in the third quarter, but Julissa Tago’s basket just seconds later gave UH back a four-point cushion. UTSA closed within a possession a few more times, the last at 39-36 with 1:53 remaining in the quarter before UH then went on an 11-0 run to essentially put the game away.

Hawaii shot 47.1 percent from the field (24 of 51) compared to 28.8 percent (17 of 59) for the Roadrunners.

Adryana Quezada led UTSA with 16 points.

The Rainbow Wahine play Texas Southern on Sunday.
