UH takes down Cal State Bakersfield in 4

The Maui News

Amber Igiede had 20 kills while hitting .531 to lead the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team to a 26-24, 24-26, 25-22, 25-19 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Friday in Bakersfield, Calif.

Fellow middle Skyler Williams added 16 kills — hitting .538 — and a team-high three blocks for UH (19-6, 16-1 Big West Conference).

After the teams split the first two sets in extra points, they remained close in the third. With it tied at 22, back-to-back kills by Igiede gave UH set point, and a Riley Wagoner kill ended it.

The Rainbow Wahine never trailed in the fourth, opening up a small lead early and maintaining at least a three-point advantage over the Roadrunners (17-9, 10-8) the rest of the way.

UH plays at Cal Poly today.
