The Maui News
Spyros Chakas had 10 kills, and the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team blasted Emmanuel (Ga.) 25-7, 25-8, 25-18 on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Making his first career start, Louis Sakanoko tied a Rainbow Warriors record with nine service aces. The freshman outside hitter/opposite from Paris also had eight kills.
Tread Rosenthal had 28 assists as he guided UH (3-1) to a .491 hitting percentage — including a .714 clip in the first set, during which the Rainbow Warriors had 10 kills with no errors in 14 attempts. It was a huge improvement from the teams’ first meeting on Wednesday, when UH hit just .178 in a three-set victory.
Aiden Feeney and Eli Zdonek each had three kills to lead the Lions (0-2).
UH next plays at Purdue Fort Wayne, Jan. 25-26, and at Ball State on Jan. 28.
