• Maui born-and-raised Michael Miller has been named a partner of Tiki’s Grill & Bar, a Waikiki restaurant featuring a retro South Pacific ambience and creative Pacific Rim specialties, according to an announcement. He has served as director of operations for the past four years and will continue in that role.
As director of operations, Miller oversees the day-to-day operations of the restaurant that includes a management team of 10 and staff of 145 employees.
Miller has more than 30 years of experience in management, operations, training, sales and public relations. He serves on the teaching faculty at the University of Hawaii — West Oahu in the business department. In addition, Miller serves as treasurer and past chairman of the Hawaii Restaurant Association and is a board member of the Hawaii Foodbank.
Miller received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He joined Tiki’s Grill & Bar as sales and marketing director in 2003.
• Blue Hawaiian Helicopters announced last month the appointment of Quentin Koch as president and general manager.
Koch assumes the responsibility for all aspects of the commercial, operational, financial and technical performance of Blue Hawaiian and its sister company, Hawaii Helicopters.
According to an announcement, he will lead the development and execution of Blue Hawaiian’s business plans and strategy aimed to drive growth and efficiencies at the company by deploying modern and progressive practices across all areas of the business, including sustainable development, community support and engagement with partners throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
Prior to joining Blue Hawaiian, Koch served as United Airlines director of operations for the Hawaiian Islands, where he was responsible for overseeing all United airport operations and the company’s 1,000-plus Hawaii-based employees.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in travel industry management from Hawaii Pacific University and a Master of Business Administration degree in international business.
• Jeffrey A. Schatz is joining Pacific Media Group as general manager of Hawaii island, according to a news release. Schatz will be working directly in both the Kona and Hilo markets.
Most recently, Schatz was director of integrated sales for Advantage Systems Inc. He also held corporate positions in broadcast radio as director of revenue development for Digity Companies LLC., and vice president of Total Marketing Solutions for Townsquare Media. Schatz has also held positions as VP/market manager, New Wave Broadcasting in Honolulu and director of sales for Tribune Denver Radio.
Pacific Media Group is a Hawaii-based company with offices in Kahului, Lihue, Hilo and Kona. PMG owns and operates 16 radio stations, online advertising websites and digital radio properties.
