HAL celebrates its new Las Vegas route
Hawaiian Airlines will celebrate its inaugural flight from Maui to Las Vegas with its first “Luck Be On Maui Tonight” drawing from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kahului Shopping Center’s Maui Sunday Market.
Two will be chosen at 6 p.m.; each winner will receive two round-trip tickets for a flight from Kahului to Las Vegas that will depart the same evening at 8:50 for a visit that will last for four days and three nights at the Golden Nugget Hotel. Bags must be packed beforehand; entrants must be present to win; enter starting at 4 p.m. Sunday; other rules apply.
Live entertainment, holiday shopping and food will be offered. Parking and admission are free.

Retailer offers whole-house prize
To mark its fifth anniversary, Maui Windows and Doors will be giving away new Andersen Series 100 windows for an entire home, including installation.

Foodland, chef create spicy line
Foodland, in collaboration with Mana Up, is launching a product line from Manele Spice Co. which combines Hawaii ocean rock salt with natural ingredients from around the world, created by Food Network star and local chef Adam Tabura.
Tabura will appear at Foodland Kehalani for demos and product tastings Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tabura, “Cutthroat Kitchen” contestant and winner of the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race” with Aloha Plate, has been the executive chef for some of Hawaii’s top resorts and restaurants and is originally from Lanai.
Foodland currently has 32 stores and employs more than 2,600 team members at Foodland, Sack N Save and Foodland Farms stores on four islands.

Yanagida Fitness heralds reopening
The public is invited to attend the grand reopening of Yanagida Fitness starting at 7 a.m. Saturday at 800 Eha St., No. 9, in Wailuku to celebrate the gym’s recent expansion.

Resort partners to trim energy costs
Royal Lahaina Resort has partnered with Carbon Lighthouse, a clean energy services company, in order to save more than $1 million in energy costs over the 10-year agreement.
Carbon Lighthouse uses a patented software platform to analyze the resort’s energy use to uncover the property’s “efficiency reserves,” the wasted energy hidden and scattered across the resort’s systems, according to a Nov. 13 news release.
With zero upfront cost, the company guarantees real dollar value of energy savings and stays engaged with the property and its teams.
“This results in sustained building financial value, increased employee and guest comfort and reduced carbon emissions,” the release said.

Akina vehicles to get a makeover
Akina Transportation & Tours will have a fresh look for 2020 on five new vehicles in its South Maui fleet.
Akina’s redesigned logo, along with brighter fuschia and royal purple canoe sails designs, will be featured across two minibuses and three luxury minicoaches.
Also, the VanHool Motorcoach will be named “Kanani” after General Manager Cassie Akina-Ancog’s paternal grandmother, a news release said.
The Kihei-based, family-owned company, which works to share its history and Hawaiian heritage, has been in the transportation business for more than 90 years.

Goodfellow Bros. lauded for giving
Maui-based fourth-generation, family-owned Goodfellow Bros. Inc. has been selected as 2019 National Philanthropy Day “Outstanding Corporation” in Hawaii giving by the Hawaii chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The honors, which also went to several Hawaii individuals and groups, were presented at a 28th annual award luncheon Nov. 13 on Oahu, according to a release.
The association represents more than 33,000 members in more than 245 chapters around the world. Hawaii’s chapter holds about 200 members.

Duffy’s vehicle inspection opens
Duffy’s Official Vehicle Inspection Station No. 1991, a car, truck and trailer (up to 10,000 pounds) inspection site near the old Pioneer Mill smokestack, is now open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays, at 256-A Papalaua St. in Lahaina.

Wailea Village celebrated the grand opening of Akamai Coffee, HUE Home + Design, Kohola Gallery and Sabado Art Gallery and Boutique last month.

New Grand Wailea Foundation funded
BRE Hotels & Resorts, owner of Grand Wailea Maui, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua and Turtle Bay resorts, announced the launch last month of Grand Wailea Foundation.
BRE Hotels & Resorts seeded the foundation’s fund with a $75,000 gift to advance the foundation’s work in education, historic and cultural preservation, environmental stewardship and community programs. Also, the foundation will be supported through optional contributions by guests at Grand Wailea and fundraising events planned in its inaugural year.
Initial gifts to area nonprofits and organizations were awarded by the Grand Wailea Foundation on Dec. 1 at the resort’s annual tree-lighting event.
