• Business workshops: The following County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development workshops will be held at Maui County Business Resource Center, Maui Mall, Suite B-9. To reserve a seat, call 270-5770. Workshops are free unless otherwise noted.
** The ABC’s of a Business Plan” with David Daly will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Maui Economic Opportunity Business Development Center’s Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course on how to write a business plan while providing the information you need to know in order to start, operate and grow your business. This workshop is a one hour introductory workshop which will provide you with a better understanding of the course outline.
** “QuickBooks Online for Small Business” with Richard Kehoe, CPA, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Learn to set up your company’s QuickBooks Online in a small class setting with personalized tutoring. This class is for new users and will teach you how to record sales, receive payments, prepare invoices and balance your checkbook. • Maui Social Media School workshop titled “Creating Captivating Content” will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Maui Research and Technology Center, 590 Lipoa Parkway, Kihei. In this class you will learn Content Strategy 101, how to create short and shareable video clips (even if you have no video footage), and how to create animated GIFs and stories from your phone or computer. • Marketing through Storytelling masterclass with Nicole Fisher will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Maui Research and Tech Center, 590 Lipoa Parkway, Suite 219, Kihei. This masterclass will teach all who attend how to craft a message for the right customer, how to separate one’s self from the competition, finally figure out a brand’s unique voice and how to use it to get the results that you’re looking for. • Fruit Fly Management class presented by The University of Hawaii Maui Master Gardener program will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Feb. 29 at UH Maui College campus, Community Services Building (205), Kahului. Learn to identify and prevent fruit-fly damage and what areas and crops different types like best. Bring an empty one and two liter plastic bottle and take home both a lured and baited fruit-fly trap.
