Third annual Color Festival Hawaii presents vibrant array of local favorites
Tickets are available for the third annual Color Festival Hawaii, benefitting Imua Family Services. The event will be from 1 to 6 p.m. April 25 at Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Maui singer-songwriter Anuhea will be the headlining artist. She will be joined by Maui island reggae band Ekolu and West Virginia-based Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band, with beats courtesy of Maui’s own DJ Boomshot. Family favorite Uncle Wayne and the Howling Dog Band will be performing during the new keiki hour from 1 to 2 p.m.
The family-friendly music festival includes food trucks, vendors, activities for kids and the throwing of colors at the end of the day. The Color Festival Hawaii’s message is one of “inclusion” — that we are all under the same rainbow, living and celebrating life together in harmony.
Tickets for adults are $20 pre-sale, $25 day-of; children 6 to 16 are $15; and children ages 5 and younger are free. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
Powdered colors are sold separately and are available for purchase inside the venue. Colors are made of cornstarch with FDA-approved food dye. No outside colors are permitted. Most participants wear pure white clothing that is then colored by the throwing of colors. For festival-goers looking to create the ultimate souvenir, official white event shirts will be available for purchase. Tickets are available from the MACC box office.
Imua Family Services impacts families and children through a broad scope of child development programs including its Infant and Early Childhood Services, Imua Autism Services, Imua Inclusion Preschool, Camp Imua and Dream Imua.
