Paul Kastner peacefully left this earth on June 19th with his beloved wife, Phyllis Sato, at his side. He leaves behind a legacy as an environ-mentalist, conservationist, educator; and as someone who had respect for all living things. He also leaves behind his family of friends on both Maui, Whidbey Island, his family in Wisconsin and Illinois, and other locations where those who loved him now call home. Wilkens Penimana “Jacky-Jack” Kaauamo, 83, of Makawao, Maui passed away on July 24, 2023 while sleeping at his residence. He was born on June 2, 1940 in Hana to Samuel Kamuela Kaauamo & Mary Smith Kaauamo. He grew up in Wailuanui working in the taro patches and was a Lahaina Lunagraduate. He was a Laborer and then a Journeyman Carpenter until he lost his father. Then he happily went back to the taro patches full time. He was an easygoing man of great humility a pleasure to know. Aiko Mochizuki of Wailuku, reunited with her husband of 63 years, Komao Mochizuki, in their heavenly home on July 24, 2023. Aiko was born on July 21, 1928, in Hilo, Hawaii. She is survived by 5 children, Cora Ann (Roy deceased) Honda, June (Lane) Fujii, Myles (Jolynne) Mochizuki, Guy Mochizuki, and Leona (Winston) Pastrana; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. A remembrance service for Jenny Yamamoto, who passed away on March 1, 2019, will be held at Kahului Union Church on August 8 at 11am. She was born on Maui on September 15, 1931 and grew up on the Spreckelsville sugarcane plantation. With the help of her beloved sister Emma, she attended Kaunoa School before graduating from Maui High School. She earned her education degree and teaching certificate at the University of Hawaii.
