Glen Keiso Ishida, 93

The family of Glen Keiso Ishida is saddened to announce his passing on May 8, 2023 at the age of 93 years. Glen was born in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on May 11, 1929. After serving in the Army, he moved to California where he married and raised a family while residing in Los Angeles and, eventually, Gardena. He will be remembered as a beloved grandfather, father, husband, brother, and friend to many. Glen was preceded in death by his loving wife, Setsuko. Helen Kagehiro passed away on May 31, 2023, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Hilo, she fondly remembered growing up with her five siblings among the Pi‘ihonua community. For the past fifty years, she made Maui her home – the place where she raised her three children, worked for and retired from the County of Maui’s Office on Aging, and spoiled her four grandchildren. Desiree (Desi) Yoshino Miyamoto was born in Wailuku, Maui, and moved to Honolulu where she earned her degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Desi was a lifelong learner, taking classes in math whenever possible, and taught both school-age children as well as tutored adults trying to get their GED. Esther Ekekela Dolly Auweloa Naeole, 70

Esther Ekekela Dolly Auweloa Naeole, formerly of Kula, passed away on June 16, 2023 at her residence in Kahului. She was born December 20, 1952 in Hana, Maui. She worked at Kula Hospital and later as a bus driver for Roberts Hawaii School Bus before she retired. She was also a caregiver and homemaker caring for several of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and later her husband, Edwin Naeole. Brian H. Shima, 97

Brian Hideo ‘Hide’ Shima, was born on September 3, 1925, to Mr. Toku and Mrs. Ushi Shimabukuro of Lahaina, Maui. He passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, at Hale Makua, Kahului. Mr. Shim grew up in Crater Village, high above Lahaina town, where he and his many siblings enjoyed the pleasures and benefits of a small rural community. Benjamin Ines passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 3, 2023. He was born on September 7, 1943 in Sinait Ilocos Sur, Philippines to the late Teodoro and Segunda Ines. He worked for various companies such as Maui Surf, Kobe Japanese Steak House, and finally retiring from Kapalua Land & Company, Landscaping Maintenance Department in 2007.
