Akira Matsuura, 92, of Kahului, passed away peacefully, on April 7, 2019 at Hospice Maui Hale in Wailuku. Private services were held by the family on April 22, 2019. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements. He was a retired public accountant. Mr Matsuura is survived by his sisters Fumiko Sorayama and Sueko Moritomo; brothers, Naoto, Kiyoto and Kazuo Matsuura. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hajime, Masao, and Kiyoshi Matsuura. Lawrence Makaaha Pua, 65, of Hana, Maui, passed away on April 18, 2019, at Hana Medical Center. He was born on March 18, 1954, in Hana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Ballard Family Mortuary; service will begin at 11:00 a.m.; burial will follow, 2:00 p.m., at Valley Isle Memorial Park Cemetery in Haiku. Patrick (Pat) Ulep was born Patrocinio Ulep, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on October 26, 1936 and passed away on April 13, 2019. He was the oldest of 3 boys, Tomas, Maximo and Andres who passed away as a child. In 1946, he came to the Territory of Hawai’i, with his Father, Marcelo Ulep, Mother, Justina Agunoy Ulep, and two of his brothers, Tomas and Maximo. The family settled in the plantation town of Waialua ‘Oahu, where three more siblings were born, Filmar (pre-deceased), Braulio, and Arcadia Jane. He attended Waialua Elementary and High Schools.
